BLOTCHITips to ace every level
Once you have played a few levels of Blotchi, the difference between a one-star escape and a flawless 100 comes down to a handful of habits. Here are the ones that help most.
Pick a calm spot before you paint
Placement matters more than paint. Look for the largest, flattest, most even patch of the scene and hide there. A single-colour wall tile is far kinder than the exact spot where two colours meet. If a scene has a big quiet zone, that is where flawless hides live.
Match the base colour first
Before you worry about detail, cover Smudge completely in the dominant colour behind him. Getting the base right is worth most of your score. Only then start adding the pattern on top.
Copy the edges, not just the colours
The scan is unforgiving about edges. If a grout line, a stripe or a branch runs across the spot behind Smudge, continue that line straight across his body so it lines up with the scenery on both sides. A creature whose lines meet the background is almost invisible.
Zoom in for the last few points
Pinch to zoom (or scroll on a computer) and paint the outline of Smudge carefully. Most lost points hide right at his edge, where a sloppy border gives him away. A clean edge is often the whole gap between 92 and 100.
Use the smallest brush for detail
Big brushes are for the base coat. Switch to the small brush for fine lines and speckles. In busy scenes like terrazzo, confetti or stained glass, lots of tiny dabs beat one big smear.
Do not be afraid to retry
Getting spotted costs you nothing. Your paint stays, so you can nudge two strokes and go again. Iterating like this is the fastest way to learn what the scan rewards.
Save power-ups for the hard ones
The +30 seconds and Seeker −5s power-ups are best held back for the busy late levels and the Daily Challenge, where the extra time and the lower bar make a real difference.
